Artist Spotlight: Hyde of No Silence, Solely Veil, and Bloodthirstea

Join us in welcoming Hyde of No Silence, Solely Veil, and the brand Bloodthirstea to the blog for our next Artist Spotlight! If you remember the Hyde Your Face palette, then you already know a sliver about our guest. Follow along as we talk to Hyde Q&A style!

Who is Hyde?

"I’m Hyde, named "The Internet's Favorite Glampire" by my followers. I'm a social media micro-influencer, licensed cosmetologist, certified life coach, professional photographer/videographer, entrepreneur, and the guitar player for the bands No Silence and Solely Veil. My journey has been a blend of resilience, creativity, and a constant pursuit of my passions. From a young age, I was captivated by the power of music and storytelling, leading me to explore various creative avenues such as videography, photography, and cosmetology. Currently, I’m focused on creating engaging content for my followers, expanding our community through Patreon, and building exciting experiences for members, including trips around the world to see and live life to the fullest."

1. Where did your social handle and the name Hyde come from?

"The name Hyde comes from a Japanese guitar player named Hideto Matsumoto, better known as hide (pronounced he-day) from the Japanese band, X Japan. In school, friends playfully teased me about my admiration for hide, as the name looks like hide in hide and seek, and started calling me Hyde. The name stuck and has become an integral part of my persona."

2. When did No Silence come together? Where are you guys based?

"No Silence came together around mid-2020 when a group of us, all passionate about music and creation, decided to form a band. We are based in California, where we draw inspiration and energy from the vibrant and diverse music scene."

3. Where/who/what do you draw inspiration from in creative endeavors? Music or otherwise.

"I draw inspiration from a variety of sources. Musically, I'm influenced by Japanese Visual Kei and 80s hair bands, which blend into my unique style. Creatively, I’m inspired by storytelling, fashion, and the transformative power of makeup. Combining these elements allows me to create content that is both visually striking and deeply personal."

4. What band(s) do you look up to the most?

"I look up to X Japan the most. This band pioneered a new music culture and genre in Japan in the 80s, pushing boundaries and creating music that resonates on a deep emotional level. Their blend of theatricality and powerful music is something I greatly admire."

5. Do you remember your first experience with makeup? If yes, what was it?

"Yes, I vividly remember my first experience with makeup, experimenting with eyeliner in my early 20s. Makeup transformed, not just appearances, but also how one felt. It became a powerful tool for self-expression, allowing me to craft a memorable persona and brand that people could relate to."

6. Tell us about your podcast! How it started, your goals, and your dream guest.

"My podcast started as a way to connect more deeply with my audience and share insights into my life and creative process. It's a mix of personal stories, interviews with interesting guests, and discussions on everyday life and our community. My goal is to inspire and motivate others through these conversations. My dream guest would be Yoshiki from X Japan, whose journey and contributions to music are incredibly inspiring."

7. Eyeliner preference: pencil/gel, liquid, or neither?

"Pencil eyeliner is my go-to. It provides the precision and boldness I love, perfect for creating dramatic and defined looks that align with my style."

8. Lip preference: lipstick, liquid lip, or neither?

"I prefer liquid lip for its long-lasting and rich, matte finish that complements my aesthetic, though I rarely use lipstick outside of photoshoots."

9. How did the Curst collaboration manifest? Did you always envision this kind of partnership?

"Mariel joined one of my TikTok live streams and became a Patreon member one night. She reached out about a collaboration, which was perfect as my community and I had been discussing makeup and having my own palette. It was a serendipitous moment."

10. What is a detail within the Hyde palette that was important to you to incorporate?

"Purple was essential. Everyone who knows Hyde knows purple is a key factor in my aesthetic, from my guitars to my accessories."

11. Your go-to Curst product:

"My favorite Curst product is the Hyde Your Face palette, specifically the Glampire shade." Shop here.

12. What beverages and snacks are your pre/post-show must-haves?

"Pre-show, I need something energizing and light like green tea. I typically don't eat much before a show. Post-show, I enjoy a large steak or sushi, but often we go out with friends and fans to grab something like In-N-Out."

13. Tell us about your tea brand, Bloodthirstea! Has tea always been a passion of yours?

"Bloodthirstea combines my love for unique flavors with a hauntingly beautiful twist. The inspiration came from growing hibiscus in my backyard and a desire to provide something tangible to my followers. After a suggestion from my friend Mariel from Curst Kosmetics, It felt like a meant-to-be situation, leading to the creation of Bloodthirstea with our first flavor, Hydebiscus."

14. What can fans expect to see next from you?

"Fans can expect new music, more live performances, and expanded Patreon offerings with exclusive content and unique experiences. Stay tuned for more adventures and creative projects that push the boundaries of what we can achieve together."

Hyde’s patreon community has been so supportive and welcoming since say one! I too stumbled across Hyde during an IG live stream and thought “what the heck…seems like a cool dude.” So glad I joined when I did! It’s been wonderful to see him continue to grow and offer more and more to his followers and supporters. Pick up the pallette too! It’s a great one! 💜

Joining the patron is the best thing you will ever do it’s less than a cup of coffee and you get so much out of it from musical questions and answers videos picture it’s like a family you didn’t know you needed but are happy you made the choice to join because if you have questions or ideas they are heard and not pushed to the side like on a lot of others sites Hyde is so respectful and real I don’t normally join stuff but I will never leave come join now you will be happy you did
