Join us in welcoming Project Fear, an explorative group of four, documenting their paranormal experiences in the most haunted corners of the Earth. If you remember the FEAR palette, then you already know a sliver about our guests. Follow along as we talk to Project Fear Q&A style about their journey, some favorites, and what's next!
What is Project Fear?
"Project Fear is a group of longtime friends who have been exploring haunted locations since childhood. Previously known as Destination Fear on the Travel Channel, the team has now moved to YouTube, traveling across the country to investigate some of the most haunted places. Each location is researched, with a detailed packet shared with viewers to provide the background. After exploring, the team typically draws names from a hat and then splits up to spend the rest of the night sleeping alone in these eerie locations."1. When did Project Fear officially launch?
"Project Fear was launched right after Destination Fear was canceled. Thanks to the support of fans, the team was able to continue their explorations with minimal interruption. Project Fear has now been on YouTube for just over a year."
2. What inspired each member to be a part of Project Fear?
"Dakota and Chelsea grew up in a haunted house, which ignited their interest in the paranormal from a young age. During their early teens, the team began exploring local haunted locations. With a shared passion for both film and the paranormal, they undertook their first major project—a documentary called Trail to Terror. This documentary opened the door to national television, where they became Destination Fear for four seasons, and now continue their journey on YouTube as Project Fear!"
3. Were other brand names considered before Project Fear?
"When the time came to determining a name for our new YouTube Platform, it was something we never really thought of before because everyone always knew us as Destination Fear. We went through dozens of names and all voted on our top options. We all have Project Fear in our top 3. As a team, we decided to move forward with it and feel like it has been a great brand name for our work!"
4. Tell us 3 favorite horror movies off the top of your head!
"Halloween, Conjuring, The Shining."
5. How did the Curst collaboration manifest? Did you always envision that kind of partnership?
"The Curst Collaboration came together naturally. Chelsea and Mariel discussed the idea of teaming up, now that the team had the freedom to collaborate as an independent business. Both thought it would be not only incredibly fun, but also exciting to design the palette, customize the makeup, and come up with creative names for the shades. The entire process was a joy, and the Curst team was fantastic to work with!"

6. What is a detail within the Curst collaboration that was important to you to incorporate?
"The DUCK! Of course.... I think this was the most fun part, figuring out if we wanted the duck to be a main character in the design or something more subtle."
7. What is your production process? Does each member play their own unique role?
"Our team is much smaller now without the backing of a major network. Most of the people you see on camera, and who are filming, are also handling the behind-the-scenes work. Dakota, Connor, and Alex take on the bulk of the editing, while each team member has specific roles they’ve been responsible for since the company’s inception. From traveling and business planning to keeping the channel running, there are countless moving parts behind the scenes."
8. Which shade in the FEAR Curst palette is your go-to?
"Ghostie! It goes with everything."
9. What can people expect to see next from Project Fear?
"Launching on Halloween is our UK trip! We visited several international haunted hotspots, including Oxford Castle, the Ancient Ram Inn, Shepton Mallet Prison, and Chillingham Castle. The experience was a real thrill, and the footage we captured was nothing short of wild."
